OAKLAND — A teenage boy was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday night after he was pistol-whipped and shot more than once in East Oakland, police said.
The 17-year-old remained in stable condition at a hospital, after he got his own transportation to a hospital, police said.
It all happened about 7:40 p.m. in the area of 85th Avenue and Birch Street.
According to police, the teen was outside when a vehicle pulled up and two males got out. The two approached the boys and began pistol-whipping him, police said.
When the boy tried to run away, police said the two began shooting at him. Police said he was hit more than one time.
The suspect’s fled the scene, and police did not make any arrests. Police did not have any information on them or a motive for why the attack occurred.
