The shooting happened at the beginning of the school day outside Perspectives High School of Technology and Leadership Academy. The teen, whose age and condition were unknown, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Several Chicago police officers and cruisers with flashing lights were outside the scene around 8:45 a.m. Students were being released as parent waited outside the building — many speaking on cellphones — to pick them up.
