Teen inmate at Greeley youth detention center dies

A 16-year-old inmate at a Greeley youth detention center died Tuesday after being in intensive care since last month.

Authorities did not say how the teen died.

On Oct. 21, police responded to the Plate Valley Youth Services center on reports of a narcotics violation in the facility, police said in a news release.

Detention center staff told police that they found the teen unresponsive in his cell four hours earlier. He was taken to the hospital.
