Team USA’s Mark DeRosa Facing Brutal Backlash for Comments After WBC

The 2026 World Baseball Classic has officially come to an end after Venezuela was able to pull off a win over manager Mark DeRosa and Team USA on Tuesday night.

Despite a Bryce Harper two-run home run in the eighth inning to the tie the game after being scoreless to that point, Team USA didn’t have enough. They gave up a run in the top of the ninth and could not find a way to rally.

When all was said and done, Team USA was sent home with a 3-2 loss.

After a rollercoaster ride in the World Baseball Classic that included DeRosa getting roasted for not understanding the rules, fans can now focus on the upcoming Major League Baseball season.

That being said, fans did not hesitate to voice their displeasure in Team USA’s manager after the loss. They reacted harshly to comments DeRosa made after the game.

Team USA’s Mark DeRosa Facing Brutal Backlash for Post-Game Comments

DeRosa was asked if he would come back to be the manager of Team USA for the next World Baseball Classic in 2026. He made it clear that he was very interested in that opportunity.

“It would be 100 percent yes to do it again,” DeRosa said.

Fans did not waste time jumping into the comments section to roast him.

“I wouldn’t consider it at all. He came up short last time and thought this was his time to win it all and couldn’t do it. Get rid of him. Send him back to NJ and keep him at MLB Network and off the field,” one fan wrote.

Another fan chimed in, “He does not deserve to be manager one bit. He fumbled this roster so bad.”

“No chance I support a DeRosa team, ever,” a third fan said.

A fourth comment read, “He is the primary reason they lost. Please @USABaseball get a real manager for this team. This guy is an absolute clown.”

“Literally ANYONE else would be an improvement,” a fifth fan commented.

Needless to say, the overwhelming opinion is that DeRosa would not be welcomed back as Team USA’s manager. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod in 2030.

Mark DeRosa Brought This Outrage on Himself

At the end of the day, DeRosa cannot blame the fans for the backlash he is receiving. He brought all of it onto himself.

Following Team USA’s loss to Italy, DeRosa falsely stated that his team had punched its ticket to move on. He was incorrect and the United States needed help from Italy to avoid getting eliminated in Pool B play.

It was at that moment that fans lost complete faith in DeRosa. For Team USA’s manager to not understand the rules of the World Baseball Classic was flabbergasting, to say the least.

Whether or not DeRosa will be back in 2030 will be a question that gets answered down the road. However, if he does return, he can be assured that fans will let him know about their displeasure.
