Taylor Swift Receives Career News as Marriage to Travis Kelce Nears

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce count down the days until they get married, both Swift and Kelce are involved in their careers. For Kelce, he’s getting ready for yet another season with the Kansas City Chiefs, and for Swift, she’s still promoting her 2025 studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which continues to top the charts.

When the new album hit, it added to Swift’s already lengthy tally or chart-topping pop and country singles. Now in March, “The Life of a Showgirl” already has two No. 1s in “Opalite” and “The Life of Ophelia.”

“All the best parts of the album look back in some way, but they do not sound like one another: there’s bubblegum pop; 1970s soul; neo-disco; a drumless, indie-guitar diss apparently addressed to Charli xcx, who seems to have sided with Taylor’s tortured-poet ex; that piano ballad; and more,” the Yale Review said of the album in a review when it dropped.

The review added that “the eclecticism implies that no single style can fit all that experience (all those eras, as it were)” and that “it also suggests that her new life will not, artistically, tie her down.”

Taylor Swift Gets Career News, and It Stings a Little, But She Should Still Be Proud

Well, even though Swift is topping the charts, she’s just been surpassed in a record. Country singer Ella Langley’s song “Choosin’ Texas” has notched a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, which breaks Swift’s record. So, with that showing, Langley and “Choosin’ Texas” have the most weeks ever spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a song by a woman that also reached No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

So, that’s a very nuanced record, but it’s still brag-worthy for Langley. Beyoncé is in this mix, as well. According to Russ Penuell of Billboard, Langley is now the first female musician to have the highest two positions on the Hot Country Songs ranking for multiple weeks. Both Swift and Beyoncé were able to almost match that, but they only occupied those spots at the same time on one occasion.

Both Taylor Swift and Beyoncé Get One-Upped By Rising Singer

“‘Choosin’ Texas’ logs a 16th week at No. 1, earning 22.7 million official U.S. streams, 44.7 million in radio airplay audience and 6,000 sold in the March 6–12 tracking week, according to Luminate,” Billboard reports. “Overall, few artists have managed to lock down both Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously for multiple weeks, and they’ve done so across very different eras of the chart.”

Penuell adds, “Morgan Wallen’s record 25-week streak came last year, in today’s streaming-driven landscape, among an unprecedented 37 total weeks that he’s earned the honor since 2022, far surpassing earlier runs such as Dan + Shay’s eight-week stretch in 2018-19 and Luke Bryan’s six-week streak in 2014.”

While Swift has been beaten out by Langley in this very niche area, she has no reason to frown. Swift’s third single off “The Life of a Showgirl,” the track “Elizabeth Taylor,” was just added to radio stations around the country and has already notched more than 300 million Spotify streams. So, more records are on the way.
