Suspect wanted in man’s murder in Denver is still at large, police say

A 34-year-old man wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder is still at large after more than a year, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Jesus Angel Arvizo is a suspect in the death of James “Jay” Montoya, who was reported missing after leaving a Lakewood bar in April 2023 and whose remains were found in Saguache County in July 2023. Investigators believe Arvizo shot Montoya while they were in a vehicle in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood.

Arvizo, who the U.S. Marshals also identified as Arviso, has family in the Alamosa area and ties to New Mexico.
