DUBLIN — A suspected prolific burglar has been arrested and charged with a $14,500 commercial burglary in Hayward, police identified him as a suspect in another caper where $420,000 in merchandise was stolen.
The 36-year-old man was charge with commercial burglary, vandalism, possession of burglary tools, and vandalism. He pleaded not guilty on Feb. 13 and remains out of custody.
The charging documents say he has a prior burglary conviction in Alameda County, from 2019.
The man was identified as a suspect in an October incident where someone broke into seven Roto Rooter vans at a company lot in Livermore, stealing $60,000 in equipment from each one. After police opened that investigation, they identified him as a suspect in a warehouse owned by the company Tech Supply in Hayward, records show.
Hayward police responded in time to catch the man on-scene, according to court records. He was arrested inside a stolen vehicle there after making a brief attempt to flee. About a half-ounce of methamphetamine was found in his possession, authorities said.
The man has a separate pending felony case involving charges of leading police on a chase while drunk driving, according to court records. A judge ordered him to stay away from the Tech Supply company and not to possess burglary tools while he’s out of custody.
