Stockton man was killed in Oakland three days after his birthday

OAKLAND — A Stockton man who was fatally shot here in late December may have been meeting someone at the park where he was killed, authorities said.

Pablo Rincon, 27, was shot and killed at Burckhalter Park in Oakland on Dec. 27, just three days after his birthday, authorities said. A woman with Rincon suffered cuts from broken glass during the shooting, but was able to hide in some bushes and was not badly hurt.

No arrests have been announced and police are still investigating what Rincon was doing at the park. Authorities say they’ve mapped his movements around California during the month of December.

Rincon was shot at the park, on the 4000 block of Edwards Avenue in Oakland, at about 9:30 p.m. Police believe he was the intended target and that the shooter fired dozens of rounds.

Anyone with information about the homicide can call police investigators at 510-238-3821, or 510-238-7950. Videos and photos can be emailed to cidvideo@oaklandca.gov
