It all happened about 7 a.m., when the plane came down on its wheels in the southbound lanes of state Highway 85 just south of the Stevens Creek Boulevard exit, according to a statement posted on social media from the California Highway Patrol’s San Jose division.

The landing did not injure anybody, the CHP said. It did close down lanes on the highway.

Authorities did not have any explanation immediately for why the plane had to land before reaching another airport.

At about 7:50 a.m., the two far left lanes of the highway were open. The CHP said it still was working to clear the others.

This is a developing story.  Please check back for updates.
