Sky sign Saylor Poffenbarger to hardship contract amid wave of injuries

The Sky signed guard Saylor Poffenbarger to a hardship contract Tuesday. She’ll be available for Wednesday’s home game against the Tempo, the team said.

Poffenbarger went undrafted in 2026 but signed a training camp contract with the Lynx. She played collegiately at UConn, Arkansas, and Maryland.

The Sky were down to nine active players before the signing. Leading scorer Rickea Jackson tore her ACL May 17 against the Lynx. Rookie Gabriela Jaquez hurt her left knee the same night, according to coach Tyler Marsh, but played in the next two games.

Jaquez is out for Wednesday’s game and will be evaluated in one week, according to a team source. Guards Courtney Vandersloot and DiJonai Carrington remain out with long-term injuries.
