SJPD arrests suspect in shooting that caused fiery crash

San Jose police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of murder in connection to a shooting on July 4.

The department’s Covert Response Unit arrested Pierre Franco Plascencia, 40, of San Jose following an investigation by homicide detectives, officials said in a statement released Wednesday. Authorities did not detail the specifics of the crime or how they centered on Plascencia as a suspect.

The arrest came less than a week after a man and a woman were hit with gunfire while driving, causing their vehicle to crash into the garage of a house and catch fire, police said. The man was killed and the woman was injured.
