Shootout leaves 1 dead, 2 wounded on Lower West Side

An argument sparked a shooting that left one man dead and two others wounded early Monday on the Lower West Side.

Around 1:30 a.m., a 25-year-old man and two 32-year-old men were arguing on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of South Paulina Street when they started shooting at each other, Chicago police said.

The 25-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, police said. He was pronounced dead.

One of the 32-year-old men was also shot multiple times in his body and was taken to Stroger where he was in critical condition, officials said.

The other 32-year-old man was shot in the left arm, authorities said. He was taken to Stroger where he was in good condition.

Area detectives were investigating.
