Shooting kills 31-year-old man at East Bay intersection

PITTSBURG — A 31-year-old Antioch man died Wednesday night in a shooting, and investigators are still trying to find who did it, police said.

Fire personnel from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were on an unrelated call about 9 p.m. when a person alerted them to the shooting, according to a statement that Pittsburg police released Friday. They responded, along with Pittsburg police, to the intersection of Century Boulevard and North Park Boulevard.

Once there, they found the man inside his vehicle and bleeding from a gunshot wound. Rescue workers treated him at the scene, and an ambulance took him to a hospital. He died there.

Authorities did not identify him Friday, pending the notification of relatives.

The homicide investigation is the first by Pittsburg police in 2025. They investigated two homicides in 2024. They urged anyone who may have tips on this one to contact Det. Miguel Gutierrez at 925-252-4095 or dispatch at 925-646-2441.

Police have not publicly identified any suspects and said they are following leads.
