The 22-year-old woman who was shot and injured inside Highlands Ranch’s Main Event arcade on Saturday was friends with the shooter, according to Douglas County sheriff’s officials.
Nevaeha Crowley-Sanders, 23, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and assault after the Saturday night shooting sent a 22-year-old woman to the hospital, according to court documents.
Investigators said in an arrest affidavit released by Douglas County court officials that Crowley-Sanders and the victim have known each other since high school and were at Main Event with a group of friends when they started to fight in the women’s bathroom.
The reason for the fight remains unknown but, at some point, Crowley-Sanders pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot at the other woman eight times, according to the document. The shooting happened at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s officials said.
It’s not clear how many bullets made contact, but investigators said the victim was shot in her left heel, right leg and upper ribcage near her armpit, according to the arrest affidavit.
Crowley-Sanders is scheduled to appear in court for a filing of charges hearing on Thursday, according to court records.
