‘Sex and the City’ star Kristin Davis will deliver the commencement address at the University of Colorado Boulder in May, the university announced on Friday.
Davis is an actor and philanthropist best known for her role as Charlotte York in HBO’s “Sex and the City” and its revival, “And Just Like That…”, as well as for her humanitarian and conservation advocacy. Born in Boulder, her father was a psychology professor at CU Boulder, and her mother graduated from CU.
“I’m honored to return to Boulder, where I was born, to help celebrate CU Boulder’s 150th year and to join graduates at such a meaningful moment in their lives,” Davis said in a release. “Commencement is about reflection, possibility and the courage to take the next step, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share that moment with the Class of 2026.”
She’s also known for guest-starring in roles on other iconic TV shows, including “Will & Grace,” “Seinfeld,” “Friends,” “ER” and “The Larry Sanders Show.” Davis is recognized for her humanitarian work, including serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and for her long-standing advocacy for wildlife conservation, notably in her role as a patron for the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. There, she has worked to raise awareness about the plight of elephants and to stop illegal poaching for ivory before elephants become extinct in the wild.
“We are pleased to welcome Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actor Kristin Davis back to Boulder to share her story,” Chancellor Justin Schwartz said in the release. “Her career reflects creativity, resilience and a deep commitment to making a difference beyond the screen — a message that will resonate with the Class of 2026.”
Davis was selected by CU Boulder’s Senior Class Council, which works throughout the academic year to identify a commencement speaker.
This year’s commencement ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. May 2 at Folsom Field. The ceremony is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required. For more information, visit colorado.edu/commencement/.
