Sephora at Denver Pavilions to close Sunday

The 16th Street Mall has lost another national chain.

Cosmetics retailer Sephora is closing its location in downtown’s Denver Pavilions mall this Sunday, Oct. 27.

Sephora did not respond to a request for comment on the reason.

On Tuesday afternoon, a worker at the Pavilions location said its employees will be transferred to a different store. The company’s closest location is in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

The makeup shop joins Hard Rock Cafe, Banana Republic and Uniqlo as notable businesses to leave Denver Pavilions in recent years.

Mark Sidell, president of Denver-based Gart Properties, which owns the mall, told BusinessDen in January that the occupancy rate for the mall was 75 percent and that the mall had recently completed a $7 million renovation.

Outside Denver Pavilions, the 16th Street Mall has also lost chains Panera Bread, McDonald’s and T.J. Maxx in recent years.
