Seahawks to hire former Bears QBs coach Andrew Janocko to same position: report

Former Bears quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko is headed to the Seahawks. They’re hiring him to the same position, NFL Network reported.

Janocko, 36, was the Vikings’ quarterbacks coach in 2021, and former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy hired him in ’22. He was with the Bears for two seasons, working predominantly with Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent.

When the Bears fired Getsy and other assistants at the end of the 2023 season, Janocko landed with the Saints as quarterbacks coach.

In Seattle, he’ll work under a defensive minded head coach in Mike MacDonald and new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Janocko and Kubiak worked together on the Vikings’ staff from 2019 to ’21.

As for the rest of Getsy’s staff, only tight ends coach Jim Dray remains with the Bears. Dray survived the hiring of former offensive coordinator Shane Waldron last year and new head coach Ben Johnson this year. Wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert is in the same role with the Panthers, running backs coach David Walker has been out of the league since the Bears fired him for misconduct and offensive line coach Chris Morgan was recently released from his contract by Johnson.

Getsy rejoined the Packers last month as a senior assistant.

Latest on the Bears
One of the elite pass rushers of his era could be available, but it’ll be costly.
The Bears also will keep tight ends coach Jim Dray.
Other than special-teams coordinator Richard Hightower, the coordinators and head coaches from this season have all made lateral moves with their new teams.
