Seahawks Sign 6-Foot-2, 40-Reception Playmaker After Career Year in Post-Draft Move

The Seattle Seahawks headed into the NFL draft with just four picks, but, as usual, general manager John Schneider made the week much more eventful than originally planned. Seattle turned these four selections into an eventual eight draft picks through a series of trades.

Minutes after securing eight new players in the NFL draft, the Seahawks were hard at work fighting to land some of the top undrafted free agents.

Seattle signed several new playmakers as the team is in the early stages of attempting to build a roster worthy of repeating as Super Bowl champions. The Seahawks inked two new wide receivers as well as a tight end as part of their undrafted rookie signings.

Among these players is Cal Poly wideout Michael Briscoe who played five collegiate seasons for the Mustangs. Briscoe is coming off the best season of his college football career.

The newest Seahawks wide receiver posted a career-high 43 receptions for 779 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2025. Briscoe also offers Seattle good size at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest Seahawks news following the NFL draft.

New Seahawks WR Michael Briscoe Faces a Long Road Ahead to Make the 53-Man Roster

Despite his college production, Briscoe faces a tall task in attempting to make the final roster. Seattle also signed Kansas receiver Levi Wentz and Wisconsin tight end Lance Mason.

The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar believes Briscoe and Wentz both face a long road in attempting to make the team’s roster.

“Briscoe was WR102 in (Dane) Brugler’s guide,” Dugar wrote in an April 29, 2026, story titled, “Seahawks undrafted free agents: Who has the best chance to make the roster?” “At 6-2 and 209 pounds with 4.5 speed, he had 43 catches for 779 yards and seven touchdowns last season (four of those scores were against Western Oregon).

“When it comes to small-school prospects and players who weren’t in very dynamic offenses, projecting their NFL futures is more about their traits than the numbers they put up in school. That said, at first glance, Wentz and Briscoe don’t seem to have traits that jump off the screen, so it’ll be interesting to see how they mix into Seattle’s deep receiver group.”

Seahawks Had ‘Boringly Good Draft,’ Says Analyst

Seattle already has a deep wide receiver group including Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, Tory Horton, Jake Bobo and Cody White among others. The Seahawks also selected Kansas speedster Emmanuel Henderson Jr. in the sixth round.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah labeled the Seahawks as having a “boringly good draft” but meant this description as a compliment.

“I thought they did well, man,” Jeremiah explained during an April 28, interview with Seattle Sports’ “Brock and Salk.” “I thought almost it was like a boringly good draft for the Seahawks. Just hitting it just one after another after another.

“It just all kind of made sense, it all kind of flowed. They took what was there. I don’t think they reached it all and I thought they got a bunch of guys that can come help.”
