The Seattle Seahawks will lean on Jadarian Price early in the 2026 season with Zach Charbonnet set to miss the start of the campaign after landing on the physically unable to perform list on July 22.
Seattle also lost Kenneth Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, leaving Price with major shoes to fill in the backfield.
Price will be looking to get off to a good start when the Seahawks open the season on Sept. 9 against the New England Patriots. Furthermore, Seahawks reporter Brian Nemhauser shared what he’s seeing from Price that could determine whether the rookie is ready for this major role.
“You’ve got Jadarian Price, who was a backup to Jeremiyah Love, obviously, at Notre Dame,” Nemhauser told Ari Meirov in an Aug. 7 video. “Doesn’t have a lot of miles or wear and tear from being a backup. And he has just been a star in the first part of training camp… There’s kind of two big questions for Jadarian Price: Is he a good receiver? Because he didn’t do much catching of the football. And can he pass protect?
“I can tell you everything I’ve seen [in training camp] is he’s going to be a very good receiver. The pass protection looks like a real work in progress. So I think that could be something that limits when he can be on the field, might have some effect on what kind of plays they can run when he’s on the field.”
Seahawks Won’t Overwhelm Jadarian Price
Last season for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Price played 242 total snaps, leading to a 78.6 overall PFF grade. Moreover, he carried the ball 113 times for 674 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Price also averaged 6.0 yards per attempt on the ground while forcing 32 missed tackles as a runner.
While Price will look to show he’s ready for the RB1 role, Nemhauser doesn’t see the Seahawks overwhelming the rookie. As a result, Seattle could also be leaning on Emanuel Wilson as part of a tandem until they can get Charbonnet back.
“You’ve got Emanuel Wilson, who folks in Green Bay will know, obviously subbed in when Josh Jacobs was hurt, had some really nice games, was one of the leaders in success rate among running backs in the NFL,” Nemhauser added. “He’s looked really good as well. So I think that you can expect maybe a two-headed monster of Jadarian Price, Emanuel Wilson early on.”
Seattle Get Strong Outlook on Jadarian Price
Recently, Benjamin Solak of ESPN shared his outlook on the rookie running back during a July 17 appearance on “NFL Live” as training camp nears and the 2026 NFL season approaches.
“On all three downs,” Solak said when asked about how he sees the Seahawks utilizing Price. “This coaching staff has talked a lot about, ‘All right, George Halani is going to be our third-down back. It’s going to be a timeshare.’ It doesn’t pass the sniff test to me. A first-round running back is a first-round running back. You want to get that guy the football.
“Now, Price is an interesting player because in college he was splitting time with Jeremiyah Love. In his last two seasons at Notre Dame, he never averaged more than 10 touches per game. It’s a fair question: ‘What can this guy be with a full menu of touches?’”
