Scottie Scheffler’s Career Earnings Put Him in Rare Company Ahead of PGA Championship Defense

Scottie Scheffler enters the 2026 PGA Championship already holding one of the most impressive résumés in golf — and now, another milestone is adding to his growing legacy.

The world No. 1 golfer surpassed $100 million in career PGA Tour earnings earlier this season, becoming just the third player ever to reach the mark alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler crossed the milestone in January after winning The American Express in La Quinta, California. The victory earned him $1,656,000 and pushed his official career earnings total to $101,109,136, according to Golf Week.

Now, the 29-year-old arrives at Aronimink Golf Club attempting to make more history at the PGA Championship.

Scottie Scheffler Chasing Consecutive PGA Championship Wins

Scheffler won the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow by five strokes and can now become just the fourth golfer in the stroke-play era to win consecutive PGA Championships.

Despite remaining the top-ranked golfer in the world, Scheffler enters the week coming off an unusual stretch for him — three consecutive solo runner-up finishes.

Scheffler finished one shot behind McIlroy at The Masters before losing to Matt Fitzpatrick in a playoff at the RBC Heritage. He then finished second again at the Cadillac Championship behind Cameron Young.

During his Tuesday press conference at Aronimink, Scheffler joked about the streak after his wife, Meredith, pointed it out.

“I think it was last week my wife was like, ‘Hey, Scottie, you’re like the first guy in PGA Tour history to have three solo runner-ups in a row,’” Scheffler said.

“I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s probably because the guy that was playing that good figured out a way to win one of those, he didn’t come second in all three.’”

Scheffler admitted the results have been frustrating despite consistently contending near the top of leaderboards.

“A little bit of it is bittersweet,” Scheffler explained. “Finishing second in a golf tournament is not bad.”

He also pointed to slow starts during several recent tournaments.

“I was spotting guys so many strokes going into the weekend, mainly the Masters,” he said. “Didn’t have a very good chance going into the weekend there.”

The World’s No. 1 Golfer Joined Exclusive PGA Tour Company

Scheffler’s victory at The American Express was also his 20th PGA Tour win.

That total placed him in elite company before age 30.

According to PGA Tour records, Scheffler became just the third golfer in the modern era with at least 20 PGA Tour victories and four major championships before turning 30. Woods and Jack Nicklaus are the only others to accomplish the feat.

The milestone also gave Scheffler a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour, which is awarded to players who reach 20 career wins.

Scheffler joined the PGA Tour in 2020 and has quickly built one of the strongest stretches in recent golf history.
