The shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. at a home in the 16000 block of Carolyn Street, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Deputies arrived to find a man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man was shot in the chest and died of his injuries at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman, who reported the shooting to authorities, was shot in the leg, the sheriff’s office said. Paramedics took her to an area hospital for medical treatment.

An investigation is underway.

“The preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting was an isolated incident related to a domestic dispute,” the sheriff’s office said. “There is no known threat to public safety.”

Additional details about the shooting were not immediately available Wednesday evening.
