San Jose police arrest three suspects for attempted murder following machete attack

SAN JOSE — Three men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after police say they violently attacked a man with machetes following an altercation earlier in the day, the San Jose Police Department announced Wednesday.

Arrested were 43-year-old Juan Ramirez of San Jose; 41-year-old Eddie Herena of Martinez, and 43-year-old Raul Moreno of San Jose, police said.

“These suspects sought out their victim and knew they wanted to take a life,” said Acting Police Chief Paul Joseph in a press release. “Violent criminals have no place in our community and I am grateful our detectives acted swiftly to put these suspects behind bars.”

On June 27 around 9:54 p.m., police were dispatched to a parking lot on the 2600 block of Alum Rock Avenue for a reported assault with a deadly weapon. There, they found a man with multiple stab wounds.

Police later learned the victim had been involved in an altercation with three men earlier in the day. The suspects then tracked down the victim in the parking lot and attacked him, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.
