San Jose police arrest man on suspicion of human trafficking 16-year-old

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Police Department arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of trafficking a 16-year-old for commercial sex, the department announced Tuesday.

SJPD detectives found evidence of a potential human trafficking case on Jan. 31, authorities said, which was referred to the human trafficking task force. Through an investigation, the task force found that the man was trafficking the minor for sex. They then obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest.

The man, a resident of San Jose, was arrested by SJPD detectives on Feb. 7 on suspicion of human trafficking of a minor, police said. The arrest was conducted by the human trafficking task force and covert response unit, with help from the internet crimes against children unit.

Police rescued the 16-year-old survivor, who was then provided with resources, authorities said.
