San Francisco Giants Announce Rafael Devers Change Before Rockies Series Finale

On Sunday afternoon, the San Francisco Giants will finish up their series with the Colorado Rockies in Denver.

The Giants are coming off an 8-3 loss on Saturday.

Rafael Devers (who batted 4th) finished with two strikeouts in four at-bats.

For Sunday’s game, the Giants have announced their starting lineup.

Devers is batting 2nd in the lineup for the first time since May 3.

He had been the cleanup hitter in every game since May 6.

Right now, the 29-year-old is batting .242 with 54 hits, seven home runs, 29 RBI’s, 22 runs (and 72 strikeouts) in his first 58 games of the season.

Devers spent the first eight and a half seasons of his career with the Boston Red Sox.

In that span, he made three MLB All-Star Games (and helped the franchise win the 2018 World Series).

Over 1,201 career games, Devers is batting .274 with 1,269 hits, 242 home runs, 776 RBI’s, 737 runs and 33 stolen bases.

The Giants acquired him in a trade last season (via the Red Sox).

The Giants have had a tough start to the 2026 season.

They come into Sunday as the fourth-place team in the National League West with a 22-36 record in 58 games.

Over their last ten games, the Giants have gone 2-8 (and they are 10-20 in 30 games on the road).

Following the Rockies, they will visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday in Wisconsin.

The Giants last made the MLB playoffs during the 2021 season.
