The Rockies announced 23 players received a non-roster invite to 2025 spring training, a mix of up-and-coming prospects as well as players who have seen major league service time with other clubs.
Some of the non-roster invites are bound to compete for an opening-day roster spot, and could have a noticeable impact on Colorado’s chances this summer.
Nine of the non-roster invites join Colorado from different organizations, and eight of those players already made their MLB debut. The only one who hasn’t is Jefry Yan, who spent last season with the Saitama Seibu Lions in Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. This winter, the southpaw reliever posted a 1.71 ERA in 25 games in the Dominican Winter League.
Top prospects are also among the invites, including right-hander Chase Dollander, left-handers Carson Palmquist and Sean Sullivan, infielders Julio Carreras, Kyle Karros and Ryan Ritter, and outfielders Benny Montgomery and Sterlin Thompson.
Right-hander Gabriel Hughes, who like Dollander was drafted in the first round, is also invited after missing 2024 recovering from Tommy John surgery.
