REDWOOD CITY — A 19-year-old Redwood City man was arrested after he drove into multiple pedestrians while pursuing a vehicle that hit his car and fled, the Redwood City Police Department said.
The Redwood City man called police at 10:06 p.m. and said he was chasing a car that hit him and drove off, authorities said.
Police said they told him to stop pursuing the vehicle but he ignored instructions and continued to drive at “excessive speeds” and blow through traffic signals.
The driver that hit the man stopped his car on the 900 block King Street near a group of pedestrians, police said. The Redwood City man drove toward the group and struck multiple pedestrians, severely injuring at least two adults, according to police.
The two adults who were hit were taken to a hospital.
The man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City.
Police are asking anyone with information about what happened to call the non-emergency phone number at 650-780-7100.
