Receiver Compared to Puka Nacua Gushes About Browns After Meeting

Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston came away impressed after sitting down with the Cleveland Browns at the 2026 NFL Combine, and he didn’t hold back in sharing his enthusiasm.

The Browns hold two first-round picks — No. 6 and No. 24 overall, the latter acquired in a draft-night trade with Jacksonville — and wide receiver ranks at the top of Cleveland’s list of pressing needs. The Browns’ wideouts combined for just four touchdown catches all of last season.

“That was my last formal interview. That was a great interview, great guys,” Boston said. “I love the coaching staff they got over there. They made some great points during our meeting time and I got to learn a lot about their system.”

Boston spent his first two seasons at Washington behind future NFL Draft picks Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan and Ja’Lynn Polk before patiently earning his larger role. When his number was called, Boston delivered back-to-back 800-yard seasons, closing out his college career in 2025 with 62 receptions for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns — good for third-team All-Big Ten honors.

Browns Prospect Denzel Boston Draws Nacua-Comp

Boston, 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, arrives in Indianapolis as one of the more intriguing receiver prospects in a loaded class. NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein drew a notable comparison for the Washington product: Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams.

Zierlein acknowledged it “might feel strong” given Boston’s speed and separation concerns but some of the underlying traits are hard to dismiss.

“Two-year starter with elite ball skills that should supersede athletic/speed limitations,” Zierlein said. “Boston gets off the line with good burst and maintains his top speed throughout the route. He’s very skilled when it comes to winning jump balls and contested throws. Boston also knows how to win in the red zone.”

The Browns have also met with Arizona State receiver Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State star Carnell Tate and USC’s Makai Lemon.

Browns Acknowledge Need to Add to Offense

The Browns ranked 31st in points per game in 2025, an offensive output that undermined what was otherwise one of the league’s better defensive units.

General manager Andrew Berry addressed the elephant in the room this week at the Combine, offering cautious optimism about the current receiver room while acknowledging the need to add to it.

“I think we can add all across the offense to be honest,” Berry said. “We’re really pleased with some of the younger players we have. Jerry [Jeudy] is gonna be a big part of it, and we’re pleased with Isaiah’s rookie year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add to the arsenal. Malachi [Corley], he carved out a nice role. But we probably look at it more like global weapons and global pass catchers and Harold [Fannin Jr.] would be a part of that, obviously. Q is a weapon for us. You want to look at it as the overall infrastructure as opposed to one position.”

Jeudy, who had 90 receptions and 1,229 receiving yards in 2024, saw his production fall sharply to 50 catches for 602 yards and two touchdowns last season while playing with three different quarterbacks. Berry has made it clear the organization intends to make an investment on that side of the ball with 10 total picks at its disposal.
