Reality dating show “Love is Blind” comes to Denver next

It’s time to stock the wine fridge because the next season of “Love is Blind” will be based in the Mile High City.

On Sunday night, during the Minneapolis cast reunion, the popular reality dating series announced the location of its 9th season. Leaning on friends in the National Football League, the Minnesota Vikings’ Josh Metellus virtually passed the ball to a player from the next host city: the Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton.

While the show did not announce an air date, local fans will likely have to wait many months for the show to hit Netflix.

In 2024, “Love is Blind” released two seasons: one starting on Valentine’s Day and one starting Oct. 2. This year, the show seems to be following that trend. Season 8, based in Minneapolis, aired its first episodes on Feb. 14.

Whenever Denver’s season hits the streaming service later this year, there will be plenty of tea to catch up on. “Love is Blind” cast Denver singles back in 2023 and started filming the season in late February of 2024.

The show’s premise seeks to find out “if love is truly blind,” as hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey often say, by having people date without seeing one another. Instead, they meet up in two individual “pods” separated by a wall and get to know one another by talking. The goal is to build a deep emotional connection and fall in love based solely on personality.

Prospective couples only get to meet face to face once they get engaged. That’s right, they commit sight unseen. Then they have four weeks before their wedding to live together and get to know each other’s families, and ultimately decide whether to stay together as married couple.

“Love is Blind” doesn’t have the best track record. Just one couple from season 8 made it past the altar.

Denver has recently been a hot spot for reality TV filming. In addition to numerous HGTV programs, Lifetime’s “Married at First Sight” debuted a Denver season in 2024.
