A man was dead and two people were hospitalized early Wednesday after a fire in the Ravenswood neighborhood on the North Side.
Around 4:20 a.m., a man believed to be in his 30s was found inside an apartment building in the 1900 block of West Ainslie Street, Chicago police said.
The unidentified man was dead at the scene and two other victims were hospitalized for smoke inhalation, officials said.
Two residents were displaced in the fire, according to police.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
The blaze is the second fatal fire in a matter of hours early Wednesday.
Around 12:50 a.m., a fire broke out in the 2300 block of North Meade Avenue and firefighters pulled a man in his 30s from the flames, police said.
