Throughout Lamar Jackson‘s career as the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, he never really had a clear WR1 until Zay Flowers came around.

Since the Ravens selected Flowers in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Jackson has made sure that he is his number one receiver. Over the last two years, Flowers has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and Pro Bowl selections.

Flowers’ stellar play earned him a new contract extension with the Ravens, giving him four years and $140 million. With the future secure at the wide receiver position, it’s clear more than ever that Flowers and Jackson have to be attached at the hip moving forward.

After signing his massive extension, Flowers has been talking to the media a lot about his future and Jackson. He wanted to make one thing clear about playing with his quarterback moving forward.

“I would love for him to be my quarterback until I am done playing,” Flowers said via Ravens team website. “No matter whether it is 12 years or 13, it does not matter how long; I want him to be my quarterback, because to me, he is the best in the world.”

Flowers is coming off a career season last year for the Ravens. He made 86 receptions for 1,211 yards and 5 touchdowns. The next leading wide receiver on the team was DeAndre Hopkins at just 330 yards and 2 touchdowns.

In his short three-year NFL career, he has 3,128 yards and 14 touchdowns. Flowers has led the Ravens in receiving yards every year he’s been in the league.

The comments come at a time when the Ravens were not able to agree on a contract extension for Jackson. Baltimore instead restructured Jackson’s contract, leaving his future up in the air after the 2026 season.

This is what the Ravens have always wanted to make sure of: that Jackson and Flowers were together on the same team. They have made for one of the best QB-WR duos in the NFL.

It’s a combo that is only going to get better as the years go on since Jackson is in the prime of his career. Flowers is around the prime of his career as well.

Baltimore has the foundation now on offense to be competitive. There is still some work that is needed on defense, but new head coach Jesse Minter should have that unit up and running soon enough.

The 2026 season is a pivotal one for the Ravens, as they face the pressure of having to win now. Jackson and Flowers are going to play key roles in making sure that happens. Baltimore needs to keep these two together if it wants that to happen.
