The New York Giants are open for business.
New head coach John Harbaugh made sure everyone knew as much this week when he said “everyone is tradeable” after the 1 player the team shouldn’t trade, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, said he wanted to be traded.
Maybe a deal with his old team could benefit both sides, with Fox Sports NFL reporter Ralph Vacchiano calling Giants edge rusher and former No. 5 overall pick Kayvon Thibodeaux the “one player” the Ravens should trade for around the upcoming NFL draft.
In Vacchiano’s proposal, the Ravens send the Giants their 2026 3rd round pick (No. 80 overall) and a conditional 2027 5th round pick.
“Jesse Minter is taking over a team ready for a Super Bowl run, but still too dangerously thin on the edge,” Vacchiano wrote. “The Ravens could fix that by adding Thibodeaux, who is an expensive luxury for the Giants. With Brian Burns and Abdul Carter there, theyâre unlikely to re-sign Thibodeaux after this season, so they could be willing to deal him now, especially if they could get a third-round pick, which the Giants donât currently have. Another possibility? Baltimore could offer veteran CB Marlon Humphrey, who would solidify the secondary for his old coach, John Harbaugh.”
Ravens Fell Flat With Edge Rushers in 2025
After watching their edge rushers make little to no impact in what turned out to be a wasted season in 2025, the Ravens have gone out of their way to improve that position this offseason.
The Ravens even tried to trade for an edge rusher midway through season, striking a deal with the Tennessee Titans for DreâMont Jones, but he wasnât a difference maker
After the now-infamous trade for Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby fell through, the Ravens moved quickly to get another elite player at the position by signing All-Pro Trey Hendrickson to a 4-year, $112 million contract.
If the Ravens can make a move for Thibodeaux and get some production from 2nd-year edge rusher Mike Green, it could have the makings of a Super Bowl roster in no time.
Kayvon Thibodeaux Coming Off Rough Season
Thibodeaux missed a career-high 7 games with a shoulder injury in 2025 and finished with a career low 2.5 sacks. He now finds himself firmly behind NFL All-Pro Brian Burns and 2025 No. 3 overall pick Abdul Carter on the depth chart.
The Ravens might have the key to unlocking Thibodeauxâs incredible potential in their new head coach â former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who will take over play calling duties on defense but still had the smarts to hire a defensive coordinator in former Raven Anthony Weaver.
Minter has a history of taking talented players like Thibodeaux and unlocking whatever upside they have. In Thibodeauxâs case, that means figuring out how he can consistently become the player who had career highs of 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 12 TFL in 2023.
Thibodeaux, 6-foot-5 and 258 pounds, was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of the University of Oregon â a year in which the Giants had 2 picks in the Top 10 and also took offensive tackle Evan Neal at No. 7 overall.
