Mr. Rapid is set to stay, perhaps until the decade mark, in Commerce City.
The Colorado Rapids announced Thursday that right back and team captain Keegan Rosenberry’s contract has been extended through the 2028 season.
Having joined the club ahead of the 2019 season, Rosenberry was already the longest-tenured Rapid on the team. If he stays through the terms of his new contract, he will reach 10 seasons in burgundy.
2025 was an option year for Rosenberry, which the club accepted after 2024.
“Keegan has been a cornerstone of our team for the past six seasons, and we’re thrilled to secure his future with the club,” Colorado Rapids President Pádraig Smith said in a press release. “His consistency, leadership and professionalism both on and off the field have been instrumental in shaping our team’s identity. As a veteran presence, his experience and influence will remain invaluable as we continue building toward future success.”
Rosenberry earned his second MLS All-Star nod last season, becoming the first Rapid along with former center back Moïse Bombito to make the trip since Tim Howard in 2017. His first appearance was in 2016 as a rookie with the Philadelphia Union.
In his career in Colorado, Rosenberry has racked up 172 MLS regular season appearances (167 starts) and 14,941 minutes, all top-five marks in club history, to go with six goals and 11 assists.
Since midfielder Jack Price’s 2023 departure, Rosenberry has worn the captain’s armband for the Rapids.
He joins a growing list of core players for coach Chris Armas locked down to play through the Rapids’ long-game approach to roster building. Starters and stars like Cole Bassett, Djordje Mihailovic, Sam Vines, Zack Steffen and Rafael Navarro, along with new signings destined for big roles like Ted Ku-DiPietro and Josh Atencio, could stay with Colorado through at least the 2027 season.
