The future of Maxx Crosby with the Las Vegas Raiders is uncertain at this point. Multiple insiders are reporting that Crosby could be on the move this offseason as the Silver and Black rebuild their team.
Moreover, with Crosby being 29 once the 2026 NFL season starts, this could be one of the Raiders’ last opportunities to trade him for full value. Las Vegas could use the multiple draft picks as part of its rebuilding process, while Crosby can play for a contending team.
Amid the rumors, Kay Adams asked Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty about the Crosby speculation during a Feb. 5 appearance on “Up & Adams.”
“No, I couldn’t [imagine Crosby leaving the Raiders],” Jeanty told Adams. “He’s just a special player, man, and I think he’s a special person, too. The energy and the mindset that he brings — he was one of the first people to text me when I got drafted.
“I’ll never forget what he told me. He said, ‘Don’t wait to lead.’ That resonated with me because as a leader, you think you’ve got to be a certain age or you’ve got to be a certain type of player, but it doesn’t matter who you are.”
Moreover, Jeanty noted what a trade would mean for their defense, as it would really symbolize that this team is at ground zero of a rebuild.
“He’s the heart of the defense, so obviously making plays for us time after time,” Jeanty added. “We would definitely, in my opinion, lose a lot if he were gone. He can’t go. He’s got to stay.”
Jay Glazer Reports Likely Exit of Raiders’ Maxx Crosby
FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer was one of the insiders to start the swirling Crosby rumors on Feb. 4. Glazer noted that Crosby could be on the trade market this offseason. In an appearance with Yahoo Sports, Glazer explained how the Raiders made a mistake shutting down Crosby during the season. “There’s a couple guys. They tell you they’re playing, they’re playing.”
He was then asked if he believes Crosby’s time with the Raiders is done. “I do. So the day it [shutting down Crosby] happened, no less than 20 teams called me, and asked, ‘Is this real. Can we get him?’“
Moreover, Glazer then said that this is Crosby’s decision, not the Raiders’, on why he’s done with the team. “They [Raiders] don’t want to do it. But he was just like, ‘I’m not going through another rebuild.’”
Could the Patriots Be a Destination for Maxx Crosby?
Meanwhile, another insider added more credibility to the rumors swirling around Crosby was The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, who revealed during a Feb. 4 appearance on “Zolak & Bertrand” that the Raiders star would like to play for New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.
“As for this upcoming offseason, outside just free agency, the thing that I’m going to be watching are these players that perhaps want trades,” Russini said.
“That’s what I want to see. Maxx Crosby doesn’t seem too happy in Las Vegas. Is he going to ask for one officially and ask out? Is that a guy? I can tell you, I know he wants to play for Mike Vrabel. He’s told me before.”
