QB Caleb Williams: Bears ‘have to adjust fast’ with new offensive coordinator

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams said he’ll “have to adjust fast” now that the Bears have replaced offensive coordinator Shane Waldron with Thomas Brown.

“It’s tough,” Williams said Wednesday. “You work for however many months (together) … The guy you’ve been trying to get on the same page with isn’t here anymore. Now you have to adjust.”

He said he and Brown plan to marry the run game with the pass game to create “a few easy passes, a few extra layups.” They’ll need to — statistically, Williams has been the worst starting quarterback in the NFL the past three weeks.

He was sacked nine times on Sunday and said Wednesday he’s been holding the ball too long.

“I took a few sacks on me that I shouldn’t have,” he said. “Getting back to getting the ball out of my hands, being decisive, is really important right now.”

Williams said he didn’t play a role in Waldron’s firing.

“I don’t get to choose the decision, nor do I get to choose whether the decision is good, bad or indifferent,” Williams said. “My job is to listen.”
