Liberty flag football has had an excellent season, at one point ranking as high as No. 14 in the MaxPreps national flag football rankings.
The Lions, who have won 15 games in a row, were at it again on Wednesday in Brentwood. Facing Freedom for the second straight game, the Lions won 33-7, backing up their 38-13 win at Freedom on Monday.
Quarterback Shyanne Smith tossed five touchdown passes, two of which were caught by Kaia Bautista. Ashlee Butler, Nicole Oji and Anna Wright each snagged one TD reception.

Defensively, Molly Meyokovich grabbed an interception, and Kendall Hawkins recorded a sack for Liberty. Freedom’s lone score came on a pass from Delaney Zimmer to Katelyn Slagle.
The Lions are now 17-2 this season and lead their league with a spotless 7-0 record. They next face Heritage on Nov. 4 in Brentwood.
Freedom fell to 10-6 overall and 3-5 in league play.

Saint Mary’s-Albany 42, Swett 6
Saint Mary’s rolled to an easy win against Swett on Wednesday. The Panthers played two quarterbacks, with junior Gabby Clement completing 10 of 11 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Freshman Alexa Glover tossed nine passes and completed six for 70 yards.
Senior Marlowe Kuroki rushed for 55 yards on two carries to lead Saint Mary’s. She also caught two passes for 60 yards. Junior Elia Kudemus snatched two passes for 50 yards. Junior Kira Gant Hatcher gained 40 yards on two rushing attempts.
Saint Mary’s is now 9-0 this season and undefeated in league play at 7-0. With the loss, Swett is now 2-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Girls volleyball
NCS Open Division Tournament
No. 3 James Logan 3, No. 6 Carondelet 0
James Logan made quick work of Carondelet on Wednesday night to advance to the NCS Open Division semifinals. The Colts, the No. 3 team in the Bay Area News Group Top 15, blew past No. 7 Carondelet with room to spare.
Logan (33-2, 14-0 Mission Valley Athletic League) next takes on second-seeded Marin Catholic (24-6, 7-1 Marin County Athletic League) on Nov. 6. The Colts have not lost a match since Oct. 5.
No. 4 Foothill 3, No. 5 Redwood 1
The Falcons also moved on to the Open Division semis with a workmanlike win (22-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-19) over North Bay power Redwood. Foothill is now 26-8 overall this season (11-2 East Bay Athletic League) and will next face top-seeded Branson (20-4, 9-0 MCAL) on Nov. 6.
Senior Kaycie Burdick led the way for Foothill with 18 kills, followed by junior Paige Nelson (13) and fellow seniors Sophia Burdick (11) and Lulu Hoenninger (10).
Kaycie Burdick led Foothill with three service aces. Nelson and sophomore Kaitlyn Vogel each smashed two, and freshman Olivia So added one.
Hoenninger was dominant at the net, blocking nine kill attempts. Kaycie Burdick and Nelson shared the team lead with 15 digs apiece, followed by Vogel (14), So (13), junior Brooke Stedman (7) and Sophia Burdick (3).
Nelson led Foothill with 32 set assists, followed by Stedman with 18. So contributed five as well.
Girls water polo
Fremont-Sunnyvale 12, Santa Clara 1
Fremont continued its promising run in the Santa Clara Valley El Camino conference tournament with a rout of Santa Clara on Wednesday. The Firebirds improved to 15-1 overall this season and are making a strong push ahead of CCS tournament selection.
Fremont previously beat Milpitas 18-3 on Tuesday in tournament play and will next face Wilcox on Friday.
Senior Isabel Headley led Fremont with five goals against Santa Clara and added three assists. Junior Anna Koretsky scored three times and assisted on two goals as well. Senior Mia Macauley manufactured two goals. Seniors Neeki Afshar and Ella Walker netted a goal apiece. Walker chipped in an assist, with senior Mia Davalos also contributing one.
