Police seek gunman in Auburn Gresham fatal shooting

A person was fatally shot early Tuesday in Auburn Gresham on the city’s South Side.

Around 3:30 a.m., the unidentified victim, only described as a male of an unknown age, was on a sidewalk when a male assailant walked up to him and shot him in the torso in the 7800 block of South Ashland Avenue, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he died, police said.

No one was in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.
