On Friday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Pirates are playing the Baltimore Orioles (at home).

The Pirates are playing their first home game of the season, and Konnor Griffin is also making his MLB debut at 19.

His hit also made history.

Sarah Langs wrote: “At 19 years and 344 days, Konnor Griffin is the youngest Pirates player with a hit in his MLB debut since Bill Mazeroski at 19y 306d on 7/7/56”

Griffin was the ninth pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.

At 19, he was the top prospect in all of baseball.

The MLB wrote before the game: “Baseball’s No. 1 prospect has arrived 😤 Konnor Griffin is playing shortstop and hitting 7th in his Major League debut for the Pirates 🏴‍☠️”
