Pittsburgh Pirates Announce Roster Move Before Orioles Game

On Friday, the Pittsburgh Pirates will open up a series with the Baltimore Orioles (at home).

The Pirates most recently beat the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 8-3.

They are 3-3 in their first six games of the season.

Before their game against Baltimore, the Pirates announced that they had made a roster move.

The Pirates wrote (via X): “ROSTER MOVE: We have optioned OF Billy Cook to Triple-A Indianapolis.”

Cook has appeared in three games so far this season.

Cook’s MLB Career

Cook was picked in the 10th round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

He has spent part of three seasons playing for the Pirates.

Over 22 career games, Cook is batting .236 with three home runs, eight RBI’s, seven runs and one stolen base.

Looking Ahead For Pittsburgh

Friday’s game will be the first that the Pirates have played at home this season.

Following the Orioles, they will play their next series on April 6 when they host the San Diego Padres.

The Pirates last made the MLB playoffs during the 2015 season.

That said, there is a lot of hype around the franchise due to their young stars.
