Also on Friday, the Phillies made a minor league trade with the Baltimore Orioles.

Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun wrote: “Orioles just made a minor league cash trade with the Phillies for RHPs Enyel Garcia and Maicol Lauriano. Garcia, 18, posted a 5.79 ERA in the DSL last year. Lauriano, 20, pitched to a 4.43 ERA in the DSL last year.”

Social Media Reacts

Here’s what people were saying about the trade on social media:

@8OriolesFan8: “Can’t hurt to add a couple of lower-level arms with upside, especially if its only cash going the other way”

@BirdlandU: “Prospect loading for a move maybe? Idk. Seems like a weird one to make in season otherwise.”

@benjpalmer: “Worth noting at just 18 years old, Garcia is 6’4” and scouting reports say he’s already got good depth to his breakers. Given his size, could be someone to watch for a velo increase as he gets older”

@FuturePhils: “Looks like the Phillies are cutting down to only one DSL team this year. Feels like unfortunate preparation for more minor league jobs to be lost in the next CBA”

@Dr_Juice1: “What cash, like $10k? Every little bit helps I guess lol”
