Extensive delays persist Tuesday after a person was fatally struck by a Metra train at an Evanston station.
The Union Pacific North train hit the person around 11 p.m. Monday at the Davis Street station, Metra and Evanston Fire Department officials said. The victim, only described as male, was dead at the scene, officials said.
Inbound and outbound trains were temporarily stopped early Tuesday before moving again with “extensive” delays, Metra officials said on X, formally known as Twitter.
Metra was investigating.
