A person died in a house fire early Wednesday near Lombard.
Crews with the York Center Fire Department responded to the blaze about 6:30 a.m. in an unincorporated area of the village in the 1300 block of South 3rd Street, the DuPage County sheriff’s office said.
Firefighters located one person who was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Their identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The sheriff’s office said there was no indication of suspicious activity related to the incident.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time,” DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.
