Perhaps, a peek at pike surprises

Peeylair Caffie experienced something that is becoming more common, catching a northern pike while salmon fishing on the Chicago lakefront.

The Forest Park man was fishing at 39th Street on Oct. 8 when he had an “unusual catch for me” of a northern pike. It seems like the most frequent incidental catches of pike on the lakefront come by those salmon fishing, though some bass anglers might disagree.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and their stories (the stories matter) around Chicago fishing, runs Wednesdays in the paper Sun-Times.
