A pedestrian was injured Monday morning in Denver in a crash involving a Regional Transportation District train, police said.
The crash happened near the intersection of Smith Road and Monaco Parkway, according to a 7:48 a.m. post on X from the Denver Police Department. Only RTD’s commuter rail A Line, which connects Union Station and Denver International Airport, passes through that area, RTD maps show.
Paramedics took the pedestrian, who has not been publicly identified, to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Monaco Parkway is closed in both directions at Smith Road for the crash investigation, according to police. Drivers should avoid the area and take alternate routes where possible.
As of 9 a.m., multiple A Line trains in both directions between DIA and Union Station had been canceled, citing police activity, according to RTD.
RTD officials said in a service alert that shuttle buses would be replacing the A Line at the Union Station, 38th/Blake, 40th/Colorado and Central Park stations.
