Patriots Get Clear Update on Potential A.J. Brown Trade

Over the last few weeks, the New England Patriots have been heavily involved in the NFL rumor mill related to Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

While the Patriots have focused on making other moves to begin the offseason in NFL free agency, they have consistently been linked to Brown. No trade has happened yet, but it sure sounds like New England has a fighting chance to bring the star wideout onboard.

Brown would be a welcome addition for Drake Maye and the New England offense. He is one of the most talented wide receivers in the NFL.

After signing Romeo Doubs earlier this offseason in free agency, acquiring Brown would be a clear all-in move from the Patriots. However, with Maye beginning to develop into a superstar, investing heavily into him would be a wise decision.

With that being said, a new update has been shared about what trading for Brown might end up costing New England.

Patriots’ Potential Price Tag for A.J. Brown Revealed

NBC Sports Boston insider Phil Perry has shared what he has heard about the Eagles’ potential asking price for Brown.

“I’ll just tell you what I’ve heard from folks across the league is that yes, Howie Roseman will probably want about what Denver gave up to get Jaylen Waddle in order for Philly to be willing to trade A.J. Brown,” Perry said.

“That’s just what I’ve heard from executives in the league when it comes to this Waddle trade. Their initial reaction was, ‘Howie is probably going to want something right around that kind of haul. First and a third.’”

Giving up a first-round pick along with a third-round selection would be a steep price for the Patriots to pay. Would acquiring Brown be worth that kind of draft capital?

Should New England Pull the Trigger on Such a Big Trade?

At the end of the day, the only goal for every NFL team is to win a Super Bowl. Mike Vrabel and New England made a run to the big game last season before coming up short against the Seattle Seahawks.

The championship window is clearly wide open for the Patriots. It’s time to go all-in on winning it all.

To answer the question, New England should absolutely be willing to trade a first and third-round pick to acquire Brown. He could be the piece that puts the Patriots over the top.

Brown is coming off of a 2025 season in Philadelphia that saw him catch 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. He has produced 1,000 receiving yards or more in six of his seven NFL seasons. That kind of weapon doesn’t become available very often.

Whether or not New England will be able to work out a deal with the Eagles or not remains to be seen. However, fans can be sure that the rumors are not going anywhere anytime soon.
