It’s rivalry week.
That was made clear Wednesday, when Packers safety Xavier McKinney told Green Bay reporters that Bears receiver DJ Moore “walked out on” Caleb Williams when he limped to the Cardinals bench while the rookie quarterback scrambled against the Cardinals.
“You’re supposed to be the guy and you’re just walking off the field,” he told reporters. “You’re walking off the field on a rookie quarterback that you’ve been praising. So, it’s like, that’s a whole other story.”
McKinney said that Moore’s reasoning — that he rolled his ankle on the play — was a lie.
His beef with Moore dates back to May, when the Bears receiver was asked on “Up and Adams” about the Lions drafting two cornerbacks and the Packers adding McKinney.
“That’s nice,” he said. “I don’t feel no way about it. They’re just there.”
McKinney has been one of the Packers’ best players since they signed him away from the Giants on a four-year, $68 million deal in March. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month after he was the only player to have multiple interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery in October. He’s tied for the NFL lead with six interceptions.
Moore has struggled, totaling 40 catches for 398 yards.
“You know how people get before the season,” McKinney said of Moore. “They don’t really know what’s going to happen during the season and you just start talking too much and you don’t really know what you’re talking about. You’re just talking.”
