Packers Facing New Concern After Micah Parsons Update

The Green Bay Packers were enjoying a superstar caliber season from Micah Parsons last year before seeing him go down with a season-ending torn ACL late in the year against the Denver Broncos.

In his first year with the team, the 26-year-old pass rusher played in 14 games. He racked up 41 total tackles to go along with 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass.

Since the injury occurred, the expectation has been that Parsons wouldn’t be ready for Week 1. Many believe that he’s more likely to return in Week 3 or Week 4.

Parsons has become the focal point of Packers’ defense. Without him on the field, the unit looks completely different. Green Bay can only hope that the early season timeline ends up being accurate for his return.

Keeping that in mind, the superstar pass rusher has provided a new update about his health as the offseason moves forward quickly.

Micah Parsons Gives Packers Fans New Update About His Health

During a recent interview with Action Sports, Parsons provided an update about where he is at in the recovery process. He was specifically asked about a potential return in Week 1.

“Man, it really just depends,” Parsons said. “I had a pretty severe injury. It just depends on how each phase goes for me.”

He continued on, opening up more about where he’s at in the process and what’s next.

“But I would say, I do feel as if I’m ahead, or on track, to be there earlier in the season,” he said. “It’s just hard to really pinpoint where or how each phase is going to go. The first three months went good, but I gotta learn how to run again soon. I just finished learning how to walk again, so it’s just one of those things.”

Those comments could be taken positively. However, there is also a reason for Green Bay fans to be concerned about them.

Green Bay Should Be Concerned About Parsons’ Update

Parsons does not seem to be very confident about returning early in the season. He feels hopeful, but he didn’t come close to offering a legitimate timeline for himself.

Not only that, the fact that he’s just now learning how to run again.

One other reason to be concerned is the fact that even when Parsons returns, it’s going to take time for him to get up to speed. No one should be expecting to see the superstar version of Parsons the second he gets back on the field.

The Packers can only hope that Parsons doesn’t suffer any setbacks. If he can return by Week 3 or Week 4, he should be able to start making his usual impact by Week 9 or 10.

Only time will tell, but for Green Bay fans hoping to hear that Parsons was confident in his ability to return in the first few weeks of the season, this update was not exactly ideal.
