One person was killed Tuesday afternoon in a house fire in Castle Rock.
Castle Rock Fire and Rescue crews responded just before 1 p.m. to a basement fire at a house near the intersection of Sixth Street and Lewis Street, according to a news release. One person was reported trapped in the basement.
Crews rescued the victim, and they were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. They died at the hospital.
Firefighters contained the fire about 20 minutes after arriving at the scene.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
