PACHECO — A person died late Sunday after a crash on an East Bay freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened on southbound Interstate 680 near the Concord Avenue exit about 10:55 p.m., according to the agency. The wreck involved two cars, according to the CHP. One of them ended up on its roof.
Authorities did not identify the dead person immediately, pending notification of relatives.
The CHP said all lanes of I-680 were blocked after the wreck and that they also had to close the eastbound and westbound transition ramps from state Highway 4 onto Interstate 680.
All of the lanes remained closed until about 3 a.m., according to the CHP.
