The Oakland Police Department has ramped up enforcement efforts ahead of the NBA All-Star Weekend that led to multiple arrests for violent and prostitution-related crimes, police said.
On Wednesday, Ceasefire officers arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery in East Oakland, recovering a loaded firearm, officials said.
The Special Resource Section and Vice Unit also arrested four individuals for prostitution-related offenses during citywide investigations on Feb. 12, according to a press release issued Friday.
That same evening, officers from SRS East, working with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested two suspects linked to a January homicide and recovered another firearm, police said.
Additional units, including undercover officers and specialized teams, will continue operations through the weekend in collaboration with the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
