Nuggets’ Julian Strawther replaces injured Scoot Henderson at NBA Rising Stars game

Nuggets guard Julian Strawther has been selected as a last-minute addition to the NBA Rising Stars event at All-Star weekend in San Francisco, where he will replace injured Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson.

Strawther, 22, has played in every Nuggets game this season, averaging 9.6 points in 22.5 minutes and shooting 36.3% from 3-point range in his second year out of Gonzaga. He was picked 29th in the 2023 draft.

He will take Henderson’s place in a four-team mini-tournament Friday (7 p.m. MT) at Chase Center. The winning team will get to compete in another mini-tournament against the league’s All-Stars on Sunday. Nikola Jokic is Denver’s lone representative on the All-Star team, making his seventh consecutive appearance.

Strawther is the 17th Nuggets player to make the Rising Stars event and the first since Bones Hyland in 2023. His teammates on Friday will be Amen Thompson, Ausar Thompson, Bilal Coulibaly, Toumani Camara, Yves Missi, and Bub Carrington.
